Biography

Davit Avagyan studied at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University, specializing in "Turkology," and continued his education at the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University majoring in "Law," obtaining his second bachelor’s degree. He also completed a Master’s program in "Business Law" at the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University.

Davit is a licensed member of the RA Chamber of Advocates.

He worked at "Barsis" LLC as a customs clearance specialist and at "Abvan" LLC as an treasury accountant. From 2010 to 2014, he served in the RA Armed Forces, first as a conscript and later as a contract serviceman, holding the rank of Lieutenant. He worked as an expert lawyer in the "Path of Law" NGO.

Davit Avagyan holds the position of attorney at the Center for International and Comparative Law.

Davit Avagyan's experience in the legal field is evidenced by the cases he won, some of which are mentioned below.

• During 2020, police officers unjustifiably imposed administrative penalties on 109 citizens for allegedly not wearing face masks. Attorney Davit Avagyan provided legal representation for 73 of these individuals. All administrative acts were appealed in court and declared invalid.

• On November 10, 2020, during a rally in Freedom Square, police officers took a number of citizens to the police station. They were subjected to an administrative penalty of 400,000 AMD for participating in a rally during martial law. A judicial representation was organized for three of the mentioned citizens, within the framework of which the RA Police's decisions on imposing an administrative penalty were recognized as invalid.

• 2021 On June 4, during the meeting between the Acting Prime Minister of RA Nikol Pashinyan and the population of Artashat city of Ararat Region, two citizens obstructed the professional legal activities of "Tert.am" journalist Ani Gevorgyan by hitting her and taking away her phone. The journalist was recognized as a victim, and her representation was undertaken by Davit Avagyan. The court found those citizens guilty under Article 164, Part 1 of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
